Director of Public Works

West Manchester Township, York County, a township of the second class with a population of approximately 20,000, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Director of Public Works. This is an administrative/supervisory position with the Township. This employee is responsible for the inspection, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the Township’s infrastructure, facilities, and equipment. Aiding in street cleaning, leaf collection, and snow removal is required. Additional responsibilities include preparing grant applications, a Public Works budget and minor personnel administration. Attendance at some evening meetings is also required. Applicants should possess considerable administrative and operational public works experience; graduation from a four-year college with course work in public administration or civil engineering is preferred but not required. Applicants must be able to use basic office equipment, have a basic skill level with computers, be able to read and understand architectural and engineering plans and communicate effectively in verbal and written form, including good spelling and grammatical skills. A Pennsylvania CDL License with Air Brakes also required.
